So I have some major confusion pertaining to the ruling majority… at least on the mobile phone side of the world. Let’s say I am currently developing applications and hardware for Windows Phone 7… oh wait! Why the heck would I do that? You are right… I wouldn’t. Microsoft holds single-digit market share of the the smart phone platform, and Apple now holds less of a market share than Android… so where is the developer love for Android? It is understood that Apple may hold the reign on hardware due to the single platform on which it is produced; something that the Android platform may need to learn…. a single size, shape, and usb location as all smart-phones. What I fail to see is why many developers are still developing first or singly for iOS. Android is poised to take 23% + of the market (10% more than iOS) by 2013. As a developer myself, my new priority is Android. Secondly is iOS, third is RIM, and a DISTANT last is Windows 7. I do understand that developers such as Rovio are now pushing their software (aka Angry Birds) ahead of others on the Android platform and therefore creating more ad revenue (yes… proven to have MORE ad revenue than iOS) and creating more profit… therefore making more money. Basically, what I am getting to is there is a proven higher potential for revenue within the Android platform than iOS, yet developers whine that Apple is taking 30% of their of profits. SO STOP DEVELOPING iOS!!!! Develop for Android only and see how quickly Steve Jobs lowers that percentage.
